In Memory of Cynthia Rosedale
It is with great sadness for me that I announce we have lost a great advocate and life long supporter of the California Senior Games.
Cynthia Rosedale was involved with senior athletes for over 30 years. In 1992 she brought the Senior Olympics to Pasadena and where it became the home of the California Senior Games. Her passion was so great, she was the California representative of the National Senior Games Association (NSGA).
When I became the Senior Women's Basketball Commissioner she was there to show me the complex ropes of the NSGA's rules and regulations, allowing me to continue serving my passion in senior sports nationwide.
A huge supporter of senior women's basketball, she recognized the potential growth in our sport and was a big fan of the National Senior Women's Basketball Association (NSWBA). She helped us get started in 2010.
She will be missed, but the impact she made on the California Senior Games will remain. She is one of the key reasons we are all playing senior basketball today.
In honor of Cynthia, I will use her famous trademarked closing words,
Hubba Hubba!

NATIONAL SENIOR GAMES ASSOCIATION (NSGA) PARTNERS WITH POST SHREDDED WHEAT
The National Senior Games Association is excited to announce its partnership with Post Shredded Wheat. We have designed a promotion and awareness campaign about Senior Games through a new demonstration sport campaign and a grant opportunity for athletes to compete in a 2014 qualifying State Senior Games. This campaign aims to help seniors live life to the fullest by eating right and staying active.
Starting January 22 - February 24, 2014, Post Shredded Wheat, with the help of fans across America, will petition the NSGA to add a new demonstration sport into the National Senior Games. Americans can help choose the new demonstration sport for the 2015 National Senior Games presented by Humana by visiting a website where voters will choose from among five sports - fencing, judo, power walking, soccer or weightlifting. Deadline to vote for your sport is February 24, 2014.
Post Shredded Wheat Team Coach, television and film actor Ralph Macchio, (aka The Karate Kid) will invite Americans to vote on which demonstration sport athletes could face in a 2014 State Senior Games, as well as in the 2015 National Senior Games.
In addition to the sport campaign, adults over the age of 50 will be eligible to get in the game by visiting the website and entering for the chance to win a grant to compete in an eligible 2014 State Senior Games and join Team Post Shredded Wheat. Winners will receive:
- One individual 2014 State Senior Games registration fee
- Team Post Shredded Wheat gear (T-Shirt and gym bag)
- One month's supply of heart healthy Post Shredded Wheat
Deadline to submit entries for the grant is February 24, 2014.
